Moon in Capricorn

The Moon is in Capricorn until tomorrow morning. Capricorn Moon is favorable when you want your project to have longevity. However, be patient because progress is slow. It's necessary to have a solid plan and a steadfast commitment to your objective  if you want to succeed.

While the Moon is in Capricorn people are focused on material ambitions and financial security. A serious atmosphere prevails.

Good Days Defined

The calendar portion of the planning guide shows you a day at a glance. You can
easily identify which days are best to support your project or take action. Since some
days favor certain activities over others, suggestions are given as to the best use of
the specified time. The Moon is the most important indicator in electional astrology
and when she is moving with ease the likelihood of success is enhanced. Each day
will fall into one of the following categories:

Best Day
A best day occurs rarely and is given this assessment
when planetary alignments are favorable and the Moon
in relation to the planets is especially harmonious.
Good Day
On a good day you are likely to succeed because the
Moon’s overall aspects are positive and her final aspect is favorable
indicating a good outcome. This is not to say there won’t be challenges
along the way.
Challenging Day
A challenging day means that you are likely to run into
difficulties that obstruct your ability to succeed; you
may still succeed but it may require great effort. The
end result is often unsatisfactory.
Variable Day
A variable day refers to a changing environment in
which the outcome is unpredictable. Indecision can be
a factor. Someone you were depending upon may be
unavailable. If you are able to circumvent the likely
interruptions it is possible to succeed.
Neutral Day
Neutral refers to a day that lacks sufficient energy to
get something going. This assessment is often given
when the Moon is void-of-course. It may also be given
when there are few major aspects on any given day. As
a result there is little momentum so nothing much
Mixed Day
On a mixed day two different influences are in effect
because the Moon is void during part of the day before
she changes signs. Refer to Moon void note for the best use of this

Variable Day

Today is categorized as a variable day because conditions are changing and new initiatives may be stalled. But you can still make progress once you get past the regulations. At first it may seem as though you're running in place then things begin to move forward quickly. Be patient and do what is required.

Electional Astrology in Brief

Electional astrology is the art of timing. When something is initiated on a good day
the likelihood of success is strong whereas the opposite is true if the timing is not
supportive. Good timing is shown by favorable planetary-moon alignments on any
given day. When this occurs it creates an atmosphere in which your project or plan
can thrive. An activity begun on a good day has a much better chance of success.
A popular use for election is in selecting a good day to get married. In many eastern
cultures an electional astrologer is consulted to select a favorable day to marry. In
this instance the electional astrologer not only selects the date but also the time of
day to support a positive outcome. This is a more specific use of electional astrology
and requires the help of a professional astrologer.

What you can expect from the Electional Astrology Planning Guide
is reliable information to help you identify which days are preferable to support your project or endeavor. It is most helpful when used to select a day to initiate something new. The guide is easy to use and designed so anyone can benefit from it without knowledge of astrology.

Variable Day

Today is categorized as a variable day which means a changing environment in which the outcome is unpredictable. If you are able to circumvent the likely interruptions it is possible to succeed. However, a project initiated on a variable day can go either way.

You can attend a concert or participate in some creative activity today. However, practical matters may not go as well. There is a feeling of deja vu in the air.

Neutral Day

Today is categorized as a neutral day because the Moon is void-of-course for the entire day. It is an ideal time for personal creative projects or leisurely pastimes. However, new initiatives should be put on hold because people tend to be indecisive and unfocused. A lack of follow-through is common and projects may never get off the ground.

Timing and the Moon

The Moon is the closest orbiting body to earth and as such she is responsible for setting events in motion. Here we will show you how to work with the Moon’s daily motion to improve your timing.

To begin with, we have to find the times during which the Moon is void-of-course. Since the Moon changes signs approximately every two-and-a-half days, she is considered void when she ceases to form any major applying aspect to another planet before moving into the next sign. During these time intervals, things usually don't turn out as planned. As a rule of thumb "nothing of consequence" will evolve when the Moon is void so it's best to avoid planning important events during these times. Routine activities, however, are usually not affected and the void-of-course Moon does favor artistic or creative activities and leisurely pursuits. You may also use this time when you want to minimize the consequences of an action or statement. For the purpose of this article, we will focus on the best time to get something going.

As a general rule, it is most desirable to begin a new project or one that requires growth after a New Moon. The two-and-a-half week period after the New Moon each month is the Moon's waxing phase. She is increasing in light, going from new to full, and anything done during this time has the best chance for growth, expansion and gain.  The two-and-a-half week period after the Full Moon is the Moon's waning phase. She is decreasing in light, and this is the best time to consolidate, organize and complete that which you began earlier. A decreasing Moon is also desirable for activities where you want to minimize the outcome or result. For instance if you get a haircut on a decreasing Moon it will grow in more slowly than it will on a waxing Moon cycle.

Because the Moon moves so quickly, she may make several aspects during the course of a day. The Moon's first applying aspect at the time you begin something describes how your action gets off the ground and/or the circumstances you may encounter. The Moon's last aspect before she changes signs describes the end result or eventual outcome of your action. The Moon's final aspect is by far the most important and a favorable last aspect is the goal to obtain a positive result.

If you were planning to go on a job interview, for example, you would try to pick a time when the Moon is applying to a favorable aspect with another planet. This positive first aspect will support a smooth beginning. A conjunction, sextile or trine falls into this category and the nature of the planet the Moon is aspecting will tell you something about what you can expect.

If at the time of your interview the Moon first applies to a trine with Mercury, you can expect written and oral communication to go well.  If, however, the Moon is applying to an opposition with Mercury, your interview might get off to a rocky start, as oppositions indicate some disagreement and the need to compromise. This does not indicate the final outcome of your interview. For that we have to look at the Moon's final aspect before she changes signs. If the Moon's final aspect is a sextile to Venus, you have a pretty good chance of getting that job.

But let's say you scheduled your job interview during a time when the Moon was applying to a stressful aspect such as a square to Mercury instead of a trine. This doesn't automatically spell disaster but does indicate you may run into some Mercury related complications. Perhaps you couldn't get your car started and you arrived late for your interview.  Since Mercury also rules automobiles and mechanical devices, this is one possible scenario, and the square indicates the need to overcome something.

Now imagine an added element - the final aspect is a stressful opposition to Saturn, planet of frustration and delay. This would probably spell disaster and indicates some interference, obstacle or delay that would force you to abandon your goal. Generally when the Moon’s final aspect is an opposition, the matter is dropped.

The sign the Moon occupies describes the general mood or feel of the day.  The nature of the planet she aspects will tell you something about what you can expect. To help you determine the best time to take action note the Moon’s sign as well as her aspects.

Wed 24 Apr - Neutral Day

Today is categorized as a Neutral Day because the Moon is void-of-course for the entire day. When the Moon is void we feel unconnected and without direction. It is an ideal time for introspection but not action. For electional purposes when the Moon is void-of-course it is not a good time to initiate something new. If something is begun on a void Moon it usually fizzles out because there is not enough momentum to get it going. People tend to be indecisive and a lack of follow-through is common. In some instances a void Moon can be helpful because you can use this time if you want to diminish the consequences of an action or statement.

Neutral Day

Today is categorized as a neutral day because the Moon is void-of-course for the entire day. While the Moon is void, that is making no aspects, people tend to be indecisive or uncertain and a lack of follow-through is common.  Therefore, new initiatives fall short of expectations. This time is favorable for activities that promote inner awareness such as meditation and yoga or for leisurely interests such as music and the arts.

Lunar Eclipse

Later this week on Thursday a full Moon eclipse a/k/a/ Lunar Eclipse will occur in 5 degrees of Scorpio at 3:57 PM eastern. Lunar eclipses are associated with emotional upsets that may bring something to closure.  Therefore, certain events that follow a lunar eclipse can become critical.  Because of the emotional tone of a lunar eclipse it's best to delay electional matters. Events that follow an eclipse, solar or lunar usually carry more weight, and help you to make major changes in your life. With a lunar eclipse you are aware of what needs to be done. Someone may openly oppose your plans or leave you stranded. The sensitive nature of a full moon eclipse can signal a critical situation that needs carefully handling. As a general rule delay electional matters i.e. new initiatives until at least one week after an eclipse.

Good Timing

Timing is very important to the success of any endeavor; so much so that an entire branch of astrology is devoted to it. It is called Electional astrology and it is utilized in choosing the most appropriate time to begin something. The intent is to achieve a successful outcome, and the rules applied are very specifically set toward that end. Many of the rules have their foundation in horary astrology, the counterpart to Electional.

Until recently it has been necessary to consult an astrologer to determine the appropriate time to undertake a new initiative. However with the use of the Electional Astrology Planning Guide you can have this information at your fingertips. It is available as an app for the iPhone, iPod and iPad and will soon be available on other platforms.

Neutral Day

Today is categorized as a Neutral Day because the Moon is void-of-course for the entire day. If you begin a project during a void Moon it rarely develops in the way you intended. This time, however, is good for introspection or the gathering of information but take no action. Also delay major purchases.

Moon void-of-course

Moon void-of-course refers to a period of time during which the Moon is making no major applying aspect to any planet.  It is important to know when this occurs because projects begun during this time will not turn out as planned or may be abandoned altogether. See the Daily Planning Guide for Moon void periods.
